The question to me is "can Capitalism beat strict Islamism?"

Yes, because Islamists produce mass misery, which generates great resistance.

For instance, the people of Iran hate their rulers and have protested loudly and massively on several occasions. Also, after getting well placed, deft help from the U.S. (DJT), Iraqis wiped out the widely and well entrenched, frightfully brutal ISIS. Speaking of which, Islamists are not united among themselves, witness ISIS claiming credit for a terrorist bombing in Iran.

The current conflict is being driven specifically by Iran, which has gained vast sums of money and influence from three Democratic-Party administrations, in openly acknowledged efforts at appeasing Iran's hostility; whereas, in between, the DJT administration had Iran bankrupt and "on the ropes."

World socialists are also in support of Iran and its proxies (Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, etc.):

--There is the war in Ukraine and Russia's need for Iranian help, and China's ambitions supporting Russia, and China's need for oil from Iran, and Xi's hostility to the U.S. Also, UN Schools in Gaza (UNRWA) are widely reported to teach the Hamas line.

--In the U.S., members of the Democratic Socialists of America are reportedly very active in "pro-Palestinian" (actually pro-Hamas) demonstrations and antisemitic actions. DSA and similar anti-Israeli/antisemitic groups reportedly get funding from the same people who have pushed for legislation and DAs to let violent criminals run free. Simultaneously, Marxist socialists in schools and colleges teach and electrify students to be rabidly anti-Israel, anti-capitalist, antisemitic, and anti-American. (Israel, after all, is called the "Little Satan," America is the "Great Satan.")

Capitalism strikes at the heart of all these destructive forces.

Increasingly now, pro-capitalist voices are being raised. They can win big when presented sufficiently well.

Look at cheers for what Javier Milei has just said to the World Economic Forum. It was seconded by Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts, also to the WEF. Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy, has been similarly defiant. (I can't speak to specific details of all they said; it's the well placed defiance and spirited fight for freedom that matters at this stage, with a clear, full-throated championship of capitalism being eloquently expressed.)

Bear in mind too that the implicitly pro-capitalist DJT Administration got various Arabic and Muslim countries to engage in establishing normal relations with Israel for the purpose of getting prospective economic benefits. Further, Saudi Arabia is—still, reportedly quietly—expected eventually to join them, which appears to be a reason for Iran’s launching this war at this time, to prevent the "Abraham Accords" from solidifying and spreading. Also, Iran may have felt that the time was ripe to act, because of the deeply divisive protests then occurring in Israel over Supreme Court legislation, and because of the growing odds that “45” becomes “47.”
