As you may recall, I wrote about the importance of probiotics in my posts on natural anti-infectives and detoxing from Covid and Long Covid. Besides the foods I mentioned, I recommended only one probiotic supplement, InviteHealth’s Probiotic Hx, because of it’s specific ingredients and my confidence that it’s capsule keeps the probiotics so fresh it didn’t need to be refrigerated.
Now I add the “LactoBif” series (potency ranging from 5 billion to 30 billion and more colony forming units), available from IHerb.com. Each capsule is double-foil wrapped and blister sealed. The label does say, on the one hand, “Room Temperature, Shelf Stable,” while on the other hand it says “Refrigeration not required but highly recommended.” So? The box adds “Potency guaranteed until expiration date when stored in a cool, dry place at 77 degrees or lower.” That’s good enough for me.
I like that it has 5 lactobacilli strains and 3 Bifidobacteria strains; specifically, because it has Lactobacillus acidophilus, which InviteHealth does not.
I alternate Probiotic Hx with LactoBif 30; saves a bit of money; but if money is tight, I’d recommend choosing LactoBif 5, or LactoBif 30, daily.
I also recommend Erivan yogurt, if you can get it. It’s produced in eastern Pennsylvania and appears to be available in the eastern third of the United States. It’s especially tart and tasty—sweet and sour—but I like it primarily because it is entirely L. acidophilus. Carlton Fredericks recommended it in the 1970s and 1980s; it’s still the same. After a few months of taking it, some symptoms I had of bodily toxins began to diminish; gradual, they mostly disappeared. I suspect it’s from killing off yeasts in my system.
Good Health to You!
